Behavior

Knowing your cat’s behavior is vital to maintaining a rewarding relationship with your furry buddy. Cats have their own ways of communicating which makes it easier for you to know how best to care for them. For example, while purring is a sign of satisfaction, it’s possible that the cat is actually stressed, so other forms of body language should also be considered. When cats show kneading, they are usually in a loving mood; it is a reminiscence of their childhood when they used to knead their mother’s breast for milk. Scratching is an absorbed behavior as well because it is a manner for a cat in keeping their claws sharp, marking territory, and muscle stretching. A scratching post can be used to modify this behavior, thus saving your furniture. On the other hand, more stressful behaviors, for example, cat aggression which may be shown in hissing or swatting, is typically a response to worrying situations or predicaments. Learning the causes of aggression makes it possible to contain it and lessen it. Also, hunting and playfulness are activities naturally prompted in cats, and providing them with toys or playing with them can satisfy these urges. It is important to note that if a cat is to improve in behavior, this can only come through positive reinforcements, which means strengthening good habits by treating them with affection or treats.

Establishing steady routines along with providing ample toys and scratching posts makes for more relaxed and satisfied cats. By observing and understanding that behavior, you can foster a nurturing and safe environment for your cat to flourish.
